Beacon Health & Fitness Three Rivers to shut down after nearly 30 years due to revenue

The closure affects a wide range of members, from early morning swimmers to evening group class regulars. Staff were informed of the shutdown earlier this week, and many have already begun looking for positions at other Beacon locations in the area. The company said it will honor all existing memberships by transferring them to nearby branches, though some members expressed disappointment about the added travel time.
Local officials noted that the fitness center had been a key part of the neighborhood's daily routine, hosting youth programs and senior fitness classes. The building itself will be put up for sale, but no buyer has been announced yet. For now, the last day of operation is set for the end of the month, and the front desk is advising members to pick up any personal belongings from lockers before then. Longtime patrons say the place will be missed, not just for the equipment, but for the friendships formed over the years.
