Mayor Zohran Mamdani today announced the launch of two new specialized health clinics for young people, marking a significant expansion of accessible care for New York City's youth. The facilities are located at NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull in Brooklyn and at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens.
These clinics are designed to provide a comprehensive, one-stop model for patients aged 13 to 24. The initiative aims to break down barriers to healthcare by offering a wide range of services under one roof, all in a welcoming environment tailored to younger patients. Available services will include primary medical care, sexual and reproductive health, mental health counseling, nutritional guidance, and support for substance use.
Officials emphasized that the clinics will operate on a walk-in basis, eliminating the need for appointments to reduce a major obstacle to consistent care. Staff will be specially trained in adolescent health and in creating an inclusive atmosphere for all young people, including LGBTQ+ youth.
The program is a collaboration between NYC Health + Hospitals and MetroPlusHealth. The goal is to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive entry point into the healthcare system, ensuring that young New Yorkers can address their physical and mental health needs proactively. By centralizing these essential services, the city hopes to improve long-term health outcomes for its younger residents.
