NORWOOD — In a significant move aimed at revitalizing local health care services, Norwood General Manager Tony Mazzucco has been appointed to lead a newly formed working group. This initiative, directed by Governor Maura Healey, seeks to assess the health care requirements of the communities that once relied on Norwood Hospital, which has been closed since a devastating flood in 2020.
The working group will focus on evaluating the gaps in health care access and identifying potential solutions to meet the needs of residents. With the closure of the hospital, many in the area have experienced challenges in obtaining necessary medical services. The group is expected to gather input from community members, health care professionals, and local stakeholders to create a comprehensive plan.
Mazzucco emphasized the importance of collaboration and community engagement in this process. The working group aims to explore options for reopening services or establishing new health care facilities to ensure that residents have access to quality medical care in the future.
