Thousands of nurses across four Endeavor Health hospitals are mobilizing to form a union, accusing the healthcare system of slashing pay and maintaining dangerously low staffing levels. The nurses claim that chronic understaffing is putting patients at risk, as fewer nurses are forced to handle heavier workloads without adequate support.
The unionization effort targets four of Endeavor's nine hospitals, representing a significant pushback against recent changes in compensation and working conditions. According to nurses involved in the campaign, Endeavor has cut wages for some staff while failing to hire enough nurses to meet patient needs. They argue that these decisions have led to longer response times, increased burnout, and a decline in the quality of care.
Endeavor Health has not publicly commented on the specific allegations, but the nurses say they are prepared to file for a union election in the coming weeks. Organizers hope that collective bargaining will force the system to restore fair pay and guarantee safe nurse-to-patient ratios. If successful, the union would become one of the largest nurse bargaining units in the region, potentially setting a precedent for other healthcare workers facing similar conditions.
